The Meaning Behind My Logo

“A symbol of transformation, balance and becoming.”

The three black and white butterflies in my logo are far more than a design choice — they represent the journey of transformation that sits at the heart of everything I do.

Initially, I created a design which included the ‘yin-yang’ symbol, but it didn’t quite sit right with me. The more I tried to think about the logo, the more blocked I felt creatively. So, I chose to ease off — and in doing so, inspiration came naturally one morning, when I found myself sketching the idea that would become my logo. A dear friend, Ian, then brought that vision to life, creating the beautiful design I have used since 2016.

Now, in April 2026, as I step into creating a new website, my amazing web designer, Martin, has evolved this further by bringing the butterflies to life — with gentle movement as each page loads. I am incredibly grateful to them both for helping shape something so meaningful.

The butterfly has long symbolised transformation, rebirth and personal awakening. It reflects the journey of becoming — of moving from limitation into expansion, from who we were conditioned to be into who we truly are.

The harmony life balance logo, featuring 3 white butterflies and three smaller black butterflies.

Black and white together carry deep meaning:

The choice of black and white carries deep meaning.

  • Black represents the unknown, the unconscious mind, mystery, depth and the inner work we often avoid, yet must face in order to grow. It is the space where our fears, patterns and hidden beliefs live.
  • White represents awareness, clarity, light, healing and truth. It is the moment things begin to make sense — when we see ourselves more clearly and step into a new level of understanding.

Together, black and white symbolise integration – not choosing light over dark but recognising and understanding that both are essential and necessary for transformation. Growth happens when we stop resisting parts of ourselves and begin to understand and embrace the whole of who we are.

The butterfly itself mirrors this evolution so perfectly:

  • From the caterpillar — representing survival, conditioning and the life we’ve always known…
  • To the cocoon — a space of inner reflection, healing and transformation…
  • To the butterfly — symbolising freedom, expansion and a new way of being.

Which brings us beautifully to the number three.

The Power of Three

Three is the number of completion, balance and harmony. It appears throughout nature, psychology and human experience as a symbol of wholeness and stability.

  • It represents the connection between mind, body and spirit.
  • The flow of past, present and future.
  • And the powerful journey from fear, to awareness, to freedom.

In many ways, it also reflects my own path — through music, healing and teaching — and the work I now share with others.

In both sacred geometry and psychology, three creates strength and foundation. A triangle, the simplest form built from three points, is known as the strongest structural shape — grounded, balanced and supportive.

The three butterflies in my logo therefore represent transformation in stages, the integration of all parts of self, and the journey home to who you truly are.

For me, three butterflies therefore represent:

  • Transformation in stages
  • Wholeness
  • Expansion through awareness
  • The journey home to yourself

They are a reflection of what is possible for us all — a gentle reminder that growth is not about becoming someone new, but about uncovering who you’ve always been.

This is the journey ‘from fear to freedom’.

“Transformation happens when we embrace the whole of who we are.”
